As requested here:

When composing a message in embedded mode, I get very noticeable lag which makes typing almost impossible.

Terminal: kitty (0.34.1)
Editor: Helix (24.3)

My guess is that it's the kitty choice which doesn't play along well with the embedded terminal. kitty is not very xterm compatible or at least does a lot of things differently than other terminals. Thanks for providing the versions, I can set them up some time and see if there's something to be done...
